Artistic work

As a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in theatre and performance, I have experience as a producer, director, actor, access needs support worker, consultant and educator. On this page you can find a selection of projects I have been involved in.

I was Programmes Producer for GVT between 2018 and 2024, producing events in collaboration with institutions such as the Roundhouse, British Library, Bush Theatre and Rich Mix, as well as two workshop series, a podcast, and three play anthologies (Methuen Bloomsbury).

Two actors, Nezar Alderazi and Lara Sawalha, are sprawled on a darkened stage. They are in mid-performance, each holding a script. Lara is clutching a tight ball of fabric in her left hand. Both actors hold an intense gaze.

In 2022, I supported Foreign Affairs theatre company as an Accessibility Consultant for the English language premier of The Wetsuitman by Freek Mariën, translated by David McKay.

Three actors are standing in line on a dark stage, each lit by a bright spotlight. Each actor has a standing microphone in front of them. Actor Youness Bouzinab is in the foreground to the left of the image, wearing a blue knitted jumper. He has an intense stare, his lips parted. He holds his right hand out in front of him. The other two actors, Eugenia Low and David Djemal are not in full focus but are staring in front of themselves, their arms at their sides, with a sombre expression on their faces.

I was the Producer for Busy Being Ze by Loaded Object Theatre, a musical show for families about a puppet named Ze and their journey to self acceptance. The project was supported by Arts Council England and Applecart Arts.

Eleven children and young people are gathered together on a stage, looking at the camera. Each of them holds a handmade puppet, made from colourful textiles. Each puppet has a large round head, some are anthropomorphic, others have horns, large animal ears or are adorned with flowers.

The Bareface Collective are a theatre company created by Kirsty Adams, Zara Jayne and Lee Philips. Fix Us was their first production: a comedic new writing piece discussing ableism and disability justice. I was their Producer from 2018-19. Fix Us was performed at Soho Theatre, Rosemary Branch Theatre, VAULT Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The play was also shortlisted for the Pleasance Charlie Hartill Award 2018. The company were supported by Access All Areas, and project development was in collaboration with Open Senses UK, ALRA and Lyric Hammersmith.

The image is a production shot from the play 'Fix Us'. Three actors are seated in a dressing room, each of them are staring intensely at someone, or something, we cannot see. Each persosn has a look of judgement or impatience on their face. Kirsty Adams sits on the left, and is wearing a green camo t-shirt, a bright purple jaw-length wig and a baseball cap worn backwards. Lee Philips is sitting in the middle, topless, with an orange sparkly cape draped around his shoulders. Zara Jayne is sitting on the right. She wears a red velvet strapless dress and black-rimmed glasses. She has her arms folded across her chest.

143 Things i couldn't have done without you

In collaboration with Movement Artist Mixalis Aristidou, I facilitated the development of a new production by the Arcola Mental Health Theatre Collective in 2019. The production explored mental health and wellbeing through movement, music and poetry, and free public performances were held in Gillett Square, Dalston.

The image is a close-up of a theatre production poster. On a vivid pink background, bright orange text reads: 143 things I couldn't have done without you. Several colourful animals surround the words: a hedgehog, a cat, a wolf and a gorilla.
